Ok well let me start by staying I am 25 years old. I fell down the stairs about 1.5 months ago and bruised my tailbone pretty bad, had the wind knocked out of me for about 30 secs. So since then anytime I cough or sneeze my thoracic spinal area cracks and I get intense pain. Tonight I sneezed and heard 4 very loud cracking sound and I yelped out in pain then my left arm got tingling. Also, most nights I can not sleep on my left side (my fav side) due to the pain. The pain usually stays just in the spine area but will go to my left arm from time to time.

Is this normal?? Or should I take with the doctor tomorrow, I do have a Pain Management doctor I see.

Thank you!!

  • you should see your pain mangement Dr. and tell him exactly whats going on and ask for a MRI.because the longer you wait the more you could be damaging your spine.

  • cracking of joints is caused by gas build up in your joints when you so called "crack" you release the gaswhen you sneeze the muscles in your lower back probably tense in a certain way that releases the gas in your joints.... this isn't necessarily a bad thing.... there are more problems with having to much gas in your joints then not enough so if it happening naturally i wouldn't be worried about itbut if you feel that it might not be normal i suggest you go see a chiropractor and tell them you think your lower back might be miss aligned and tell them it cracks often when your muscles tense.... they'll reposition your joints so that it will fix any needed adjustmentsas a fitness worker i easily recommend going to a licensed chiropractic practitioner at least once or twice a years regardless of ageyou never realize how much you need a good adjustment till its done
