My son had 2 episodes approx a month ago where I thought he had a seizure (twitching of his left arm and lip smacking). I took him to his pediatrician and we agreed to wait to see if it happens again before sedating him for tests. It didn't happen again before we were seen by the pediatrician again, but since that time we have had an episode where he just kind of got lost and doesn't respond for a few minutes and several episodes of twitching/spasms of arms or head but is interacting with us at the same time. I am a nurse, but for the life of me, I can't figure this out. Any ideas?

  • My daughter at 4 months had sudden twitching and jerking movements while nursing. The pediatrician ordered an EKG and ENG both showed where in normal limits. The symptoms went away so there was no further investigation. 15 years later under investigation for scoliosis, due to a stress fracture, we found that several lower vertebrae where not fully formed. I asked the doctor if the deformation might cause any problems. He described what she had at 4 months if pressure was placed on a nerve trunk with in the deformation.

  • My son has had what seems to be what ur's has went threw and I also took him to the doc. They told me to wait and so I did big mistake:( He has a 40 min seizure. I found a neuro right away and they did a eeg. It came back he was having abcence seizures, partial seizures and most of them are in his sleep so its was hard to see them. I would find a neuro and have him tested. The test is fairly easy and their is no ouchies. My son would twitch in his sleep, hand fumbling, the absence seizures can be very fast and are hard to catch. some may only last for 2 secs. If ur lossing those seconds it does count. Somtimes they can have a absent seizure and still be able to be aware of their surroundings and still be in left feild. my son had a seizure and still asked for a candy. seizures can be very complex and at times are very hard to dx. My advice would def see a neuro to be on the safe side. I hope I helped !!!:) My son had 2 episodes approx a month ago where I thought he had a seizure (twitching of his left arm and lip smacking).
