About 8 months ago i awoke with blurred vision loss in my right eye. I wear contacts and thought i lost one well i didnt i went to an optometrist since i was about to go out of town, she gave me steroid eyedrops and i kept seeing her for 2months to no avail, i finally took it upon myself to go to an optomologist who then diagnosed me with optic neuritis and once again saw her for another month she then sent me to a retinal specialist who finally sent me to a neurologist, long story short , 5 months later she wonders why i waited so long, could of gotten my eye back and my eventually develop ms,(just had an mri clear) however just advised will need one every 3 months for ???? anyone else with this prob???

  • I am not sure I understand your question. Where you diagnosed with MS or are you worried you may have MS? It's important to remember that Optic Neuritis can appear on its own without being tied to MS. Assuming that you have no other symptoms, MS isn't something you should worry about.

  • I had optic neuritis just over a year ago, no vision loss, thankfully, just discovered during a routine eye exam. Optic neuritis is one of the more common first symptoms of MS. I have other related symptoms, and they are worried about MS developing. I had two MRIs (both clear) in a year, and I see the neurologist every 6 months. We're taking a wait-and-see approach. An MRI every 3 months sounds excessive (and expensive!), but you should definitely report any other problems you have. And like the other guy said, optic neuritis can exist on its own, so it could be nothing. Talk over your concerns with your neurologist.
