Does anyone know the significance of oligoclonal bands in relation to multiple sclerosiss

I recently had a spinal tap that showed positive oligoclonal bands an indication for multiple sclerosiss but my MRI was clear.

If I don't have MS could I have another autoimunue desease?

I am wander about that because my doctor wants to do a PET scan to Rule out MS.
But is it not possible I could have any number of other autoimunue deseases?

If anyone knows I would be gratefull.
