Why would I have thrush?

I've had a sore throat on and off for a few weeks now, and a couple of days ago noticed my tongue was white and furry, and I have white growth of some sort in the back of my throat and on my tonsils. I've had strep many times, and every time I've had it, its excruciating, so I don't think I have strep throat. Also on the back of my tongue, there is a collection of this stuff in the center.

I've had chronic health problems for over two years that is still undiagnosed, but I've had multiple HIV tests just in case, they're aways negative.

I haven't been on antibiotics for anything in a year, and as I said, no HIV. So why would I have thrush? From what I read about it and saw of it, that's what this looks like, but I am not in a risk group for it - I'm 21, not a heavy smoker , not a heavy caffeine user and rarely drink alcohol. I have also been experiencing major weight loss and appetite loss.

In the meantime a course of antibiotics will eliminate any bad bateria in your gut & follow that up with eating natural yogurt for about 1 week to restore your flora. At your age, the human body is strong and can bounce back. Eliminate smoking by increasing your body's alkalinity by eating spinach, beet greens, raisins, figs, dried lima beans, dandelion greens & almonds. Avoid eating the following foods because they make it harder to quit smoking are: alcohol, red meats, liver, organ meats, wheat germ, dried lentils, chicken, eggs, cheeses, peanuts, english walnuts, plums, prunes, cranberries & coffee. Try eating oats, as in oatmeal & oat bran. They use this in India to help people kick the habit. Oats reduce the cravings for nicotine.Once you are off the cigarettes your sense of taste should be restored & your appetite.
