About 3 months ago I had a really sore throat for about 2-3 days. There were 2 small spots on my tonsils. I had one evening of vomiting. Those were my only symptoms. Then the sore throat went away. I've felt fine ever since, but 3 months later the white spots remain. I don't know if they went away and returned or never went away.
I have scraped them off once. But they came back a few days later. I didn't think they smelled particularly bad (several people have said they usually smell really bad).
If it was/is strep wouldn't I have given it to my boyfriend? About a week and a half after I had the sore throat (still had the spots) we started kissing again, but he didn't get sick.
Strep and thrush are the only specific diagnoses that I can find for white spots on the tonsils. Is there anything else that could be causing this?
