For more than the last 2 months ive had a sore throat, but its not cold or flu related. Ive been seeing doctors and more recently a ear, nose and throat specialist.
Specifically the pain i have is when swallowing it feels like im swallowing carpet or something, and its a dull pain. It is also very tender behind my adams apple at the back of my throat, and when pressed with my fingers I can feel the pain level increase.
The doctors (GP) initially perscribed me some antibiotics caled amoxycillin (1000mg twice daily) which did not have any effect.
Then I had the referral to see the specialist who had a ct scan and xrays done of my nose, throat and chest. The specialist wanted to put some sensor thing down my throat for 24 hrs to monitor my throat acidity levels, but after failing numerous times and me vomiting while he was trying to put the sensor down my throat that procedure was skipped. He has now perscribed me some Nexium anti-acid pills which i have been on for 3 days. I would have thought there been at least some mild change in that time, but it doesnt seem to be getting better.
I have noticed that in the back of my throat I have these lumps each side, and aparently my mucas glands are working overtime.
Im at my wits end now. I dont know if i should start seeing another docotor to get another opinion, or just keep trying to ride this problem out with the people that I have been seeing.
Ive attached a couple of pics of the lumps which ive boxed.
Im about to book another appointment and try another round of anti-biotics and see how that goes... I appreciate any suggestions you can offer.
