Metallic Taste in Mouth

I have been experiencing a very strong metallic taste in mouth over the last week. Today was the strongest. This might sound odd, but it feels like I have aluminum foil around the sides of my tongue. The top, front, and back of tongue all feel normal. No dental work recently, and the only med I take is Zyrtec. After speaking with everyone I know, I can only come up with two ideas. Should I be worried.

1) I stopped drinking alochol 3 weeks ago. I consumed about 4-8 drinks from Friday to Sunday. Usually a beer or two per night and during the game on Sunday. This came on about 2 weeks after.

2) Dialysis Nurse said it could be a sign of kidney issue. She asked if I oftern held it too long. I am on the road Monday through Friday, and often get stuck in Boston traffic. Sometimes it is all I can do to find a rest stop. I have had to jump out on the side of the highway. I have made and effort to stop lately. Could that be it?

No other symtoms. I actually feel great. I exercise 4-5 times a week for an hour on the treadmill or outside runs.
