What causes sudden handwriting changes - from normal to large to illegible to normal - at one time?

When I write anything, my handwriting starts out normally, but it changes drastically as I write. In this sample, towards the end of the first paragraph, my writing enlarges, and then returns to normal. The second paragraph begins almost normally, but the writing misses the lines, and then suddenly becomes illegible. The last half of a sentence will the revert to being normal. When my teachers look at the paper, it looks like 4 different people were writing! I don't do this on purpose, but I have no idea what could cause this.

  • Well, I cannot say that my handwriting changes as drastically as yours does, but for me, stress plays a huge role in how nice and neat my handwriting is. The more stress I have, the more tightly I hold the pen or pencil and the harder I press on the paper, this results in really poor handwriting. I must consciously reduce my stress level to be able to write in a fashion that is acceptable to me. Perhaps take a break when you see your handwriting changing and come back to it at a later time.
