  • anything inconvenient to authority will at some stage be called a "personality disorder."if you are hurting yourself or others around you ,it is a different matter.though there will probably still be some overlap. unfortunately nothing is simple(except ,perhaps"do none harm".)read "one flew over the cuckoos nest ,by ken kesey.spend a few years pondering the problems it raises.in the meantime ....let there be peace.

  • Which personality disorder are you looking for? There are different types: avoidant, antisocial, borderline, dependent, paranoid, schizoid, schizoaffective, passive-aggressive, etc. According to most medical books and stuff like that, personality disorders are usually not easy to treat.

  • Recommend a book to read which may be what you are looking for, information:Suckerman, M. (1999). Vulnerability to psychopathology: a biosocial model.Washington, DC: American Psychological AssociationOr you can browse through books designed to teach understanding the DSM-IV-TR (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder, Fourth Edition, Text Revision).Hope this helps as personality disorders are complex and there could be comorbidity with other disorders so it may be more than one causing the symptoms.osiyo57

  • many problems and confusions attend the diagnosis of each sub type.that is why we need to know .in this area "a diagnosis" is really not much good....onits own,it can mislead. recent research will change aspects of our understanding anyway, stuff, important stuff ,has been left out of the mix.the different ytpes have different causes and different implications anyway.we need to know which type.
