  • I have had the same type symptoms since I was 16. I am now 41. It's called anxiety attacks. I am not saying this is what is wrong. I am only suggesting that it may be Anxiety. My anxiety was the sudden fear that I was dying. I would go to the hospital only to be told nothing is wrong with you. I have had every test you could think of blood workup, mri, mra, cat scans, stress test, heart monitors, ekg etc... Do yourself a favor. The next time this happens to you find something that will soothe you when an attack begins. I started taking hot baths and trust me the tub never fills fast enough. But once I relax myself I begin to calm down. I change the thought by doing this. I find things that occupy my mind. Find a hobby that you are really interested in and keep it nearby. Whether it be a paint by number, ceramics, jigsaw puzzles, stuff like that. Just go right to it and see if that doesn't help eleviate the symptoms. I kept a jigsaw puzzle in my bedroom and I too woke up from these attacks. I just started to do that and again it calmed me down.Again I am not a doctor but I relate to what you are feeling.

  • Well first off your not a monster. Believe it or not alot of people have these attacks. You really shouldn't care what people think when your having one. Seriously we all have our issues, some of ours show and others are hidden. So don't let that bother you. Just know no one person is not without problems. As far as the attacks go. Sometimes they don't happen at all. I don't like relaxing either but this is the only thing that brings me out of it. I always have to be doing something and well just maybe (and I don't know this for sure) that is the reason for the attacks. Not allowing yourself to relax can cause stress and stress is a big factor when it comes to these attacks. I'm glad you went to the doctors but I would also find a counselor. I don't any medicines but I have a counselor and that has helped a lot. I wish you well!!!

  • Firstly, the meds you're on can actually CREATE those symptoms as side effects so the 1st thing to do is to get off them. 2ndly, your moods (both you and your brothers) are from sleep deprivation believe it or not-bet neither of you is sleeping a normal 10 hours per night which is needed in your age group! It's a medical fact that not getting 10 hours of sleep per night in your age group can causes these types of symptoms (& more); to stop this sleep deprivation start with getting 10 hours per night and next you'll have to make up the lost sleep meaning all that time you were sleeping only 8 per night meant you LOST 2 hours per night and that adds up in time and must be made up (not hour for hour, but it may take a while so don't rush it). Over time you'll be back to normal (both of you).A good site to see the most comprehensive information on sleep and what it can do symptom-wise and what to do about it can be seen at :http://sleepinfohelp.blogspot.com/This site also has good medical references so you can educate yourselves on what doctors already know : lacking sleep can make you go bonkers (basically).Feel better,William

  • You didn't get into too much detail about your hyper moods here, but if you do have them sortof often you may want to look into manic depressive disorder, otherwise known as bipolar disorder. It is basically a constant swithcing between being depressed and being manic (hyper). It can be a whirlwind of devastating confusion. My best friend developed it and she received treatment and now she is living a very stable and normal life, she's mellow and happy. :)Some people don't have it as bad, and they don't even need treatment. But sorry! I wouldn't want to worry you, more than likely you do not have this anyway. Probably you do just need proper sleep and try to find some relaxation techniques and somebody to talk to!I just thought I would mention the possibility of Bipolar in case you were extremely distraught. But like I said, more than likely you just need more stable health habits! Many MANY people have strange thoughts and mood problems like this, including me, I wouldn't panic over it. But if you are feeling especially overwhelmed by your emotions so that you're worried for yourself, then look into talking to someone professional about it. Take care! :)

  • Because of your stomach ache and psych signs... I'd suggest you also be screened for porphyria.Plus you have a brother with similar problems, get screeened for porphyria and other genetic diseases that can cause psychological problems. Good luck. Having the answer will make a hug difference in your life; I also recommend avoid the things that can trigger porphyria attacks such as alcohol and certain medicines. Having a dx can help you live a better life, and is safer for you. Many people with porphyria do live a good life with few if any attacks, avoiding the triggers of porphyria attacks is a key to helping yourself. Check these links out: http://wrongdiagnosis.com/p/porphyria/symptoms.htm#symptom_list http://www.porphyriafoundation.com/ About the 8 kinds of porphyria, Porphyria safe drug database, porphyria triggers member stories, information on treatments and testing, and links to other porphyria websites. hey everyone im new to here have a bit of dileama.I have been sick since i was about 17 im 23 now.First attacks of porphyria can often occur during/leaving adolescence i kind of lost the plot after i finished secondary school.i got really sick after my final exams, one night i woke up with strange feelings in my heart then i culdnt catch my breath and felt like callopsing. Many porphyria patients have had this happen to them This has been going on since have been vomiting from it too.Nausea is assoc. with porphyria attacks It feels like i am about to explode sometimes my moods all over the place i feel like crying one minute the next i am hyper keep getting mad heart palpitations (a porphyria sign) and upset stomache (porphyria sign) I also keep geting mad thoughts in my head it sometimes feels like im completly wired.I get these attacks and random times and random places and takes a while to get me out of them.Im just really scared something is really up even tho i have had tests and everything seems fine its just like what if there missing something. test for porphyria can give false negatives, you have to catch them at the right time during an attack for some. Especially some genetic diseases like varigate porphyria. http://www.mayomedicallaboratories.com/media/articles/algorithms/acuporphyria.pdf I have been on various medications like prozac and effexor but nothing is working for me. Medicines like these can trigger porphyria attacks... and make you worse; but don't stop cold turkey. You can get real sick stopping such medicines suddenly. Talk to your dr. Every day feels like a constant battle.Im even more worried now as my younger brother who is 18 says he gets mad feelings and thoughts such as death and stuff and things are driving him mad.Indicates a possible genetic disease such as porphyria.... he needs screening also for genetic metabolic diseases also.Anyone else in your ancestors have psych problems? Abdominal pains (severe)? Could it be a genetic thing?I also live in ireland (porphyria is a problem seen in the Irish population, Wilsons Disease also) and mental health problems are extremly high over here.Is it just the way were made?? Find a dr who specializes in liver, blood and genetic diseases. You really should be screened for porphyria and other genetic diseases that can cause psychological signs. There are support groups for porphyria at Yahoo. The American Porphyria Foundation Website is a good place to start.tdwi:)
