a form of being manic? One psychiatrist told me that a lesser form of being manic is yelling, feeling irritable all the time.

This is confusinfng because I usually never feel like this. I do think I avoid situations, so as not to get irritated.

anyone have similar thoughts?

  • irritability can also be a symptom of an undiagnosed medical condition.one of the symptoms of hyperthyroid is irritability...and I certainly had it!my son was EXTREMELY irritable 24/7--like walking on eggshells every day!! Neuros and psychs. dx. him with a mood disorder or bipolar--he was very manic/depressive. These things almost all cleared up after he tested positive for 55 food allergies and we took him off of the foods. There is always a root to the problem, but most times drs. are just trained to treat the symptoms you have, not find out WHY you have them. (they all wanted to medicate our son...our 2 year old son who had a MOOD DISORDER!!
