My dad is a doctor and has always worked, what seemed to me, too many hours a week. Up until recently his work didn't affect his mood around the family that much, not anymore than everybody's normal stress level. then within the last several months he started being very agitated and stopped being any fun, wouldn't basketball with me anymore.
He went to see a therapist or shrink or whatever and was diagnosed as depressed. Now i looked at a very simple layman's definition of depression and , while he may have a few of the symptoms, it seems to be stretch - he's not lethargic or anything like that. Then i came across this article and this "physician burnout" that they describe seems more like what he's suffering from. If you've heard of the Grapevine Discovery program that is mentioned in the said article i'd appreciate any feedback.
Who knows he could just be *****d that he hasn't beat me in a bball game in like 3 years. that was a joke, but seriously....
