  • You are going to be okay. It's time to talk to someone about your problems - either a counselor, friend, or parent. You may need to some medications to help you with your anxiety and depression. Believe me - it will get better if you seek help.

  • I think many counselors have reduced payment plans for those who cannot afford their rates. I cannot recommend it highly enough - please get professional help, I don't think parents or friends can be very effective against what you describe. Ask your parents - if they want you to be on meds, then they have to get you to a counselor for that, right? Don't just let a physician prescribe anti-depressents, it's irresponsible. Talk to a mental health professional instead, who may or may not recommend medications.

  • Hey,Don't worry, everything WILL be ok. I am 21, and I deal with a lot of the things you deal with as well. I have depression, anxiety, agoraphobia (talk about a lot of fear.) And I worry so constantly I feel like I am going to go insane. I don't think you can ever completely stop worrying, we are, in fact human. However, It is all about managing your thoughts and your worries. When you feel yourself distressing than try to think about things that make you happy, or do something positive for yourself. But I know it is not just that easy. Seeing a professional can really help you deal with these issues and see what the roots of them are. They can give you practical ideas to help manifest your life into a more positive future. I have been going to therapy for a long time and it has really helped me. I know you said you have a concern about affording it. Some therapists will work with you and give you a reduced rate, just as elicurious said. As well, I have heard of some therapists who do free counseling at some clinics. I am not exactly sure where, you would have to look into it. But my sister was in the same situation and she wanted to do that. And as a last option, at some colleges, such as grad schools, they offer free counseling if you participate in a few live sessions so students can observe. (Depending how comfortable you are with that.) Again I am not quite sure about the details. Also, I take meds and that really helps to balance me out mentally. It works together well with the therapy. It has helped me tremendously and I would recommend you seeing a psychiatrist to see if that is a viable option for you. Oh, and journal writing and talking to a friend always helps for me as well. Ok, I have written a whole book here. I hope I didn't sound too preachy. I just wanted to tell you all the things that worked for me. I hope all of this helped.

  • My husband had to go to a couseler and it has helped tremendously. He only took meds for a couple of months. I say go talk to someone for sure, they are there to help you and are wanting to help you. They choose that career just to help people. They are wonderful. And my husbands counseler goes by how much we make, because our insurence wouldn't cover it. I know they will work with you on it! Nobody likes feeling that way and someone who knows what they are talking about will help you out soooo much. Everything will be just fine!

  • hi there,I'm not sure how it works by you guys, but in South Africa it would be covered by medical aid...i suffer from a few of those you talk about and regular therapy helps, and they will be the best ones to determine how much of what you need, if any, at the beginning...personally i feel my anxiety has been the cause of a lot of my problems, so you need to determine the cause of all you experience...nothing is wrong with seeing a counsellor / psychiatrist, they're there to help and things WILL work out for you...you are not alone, so chat here too...Spider
