...stomach flu? Or any illness for that matter? It seems any time I get sick where I'm out of commission for a couple days, by the time I feel better I also start feeling my OCD and anxiety symptoms kicking in worse. I take 25 mgs of Zoloft daily. I used to take 100 but weaned myself down last year over many months to 25 with the help of my doctor. I'm starting to wonder if I should be taking a higher dose again. 25 keeps me in check for the most part but sometimes I feel the symptoms returning more. Feeling worse after illness is annoying. Has anyone else ever had that happen?

  • Hi Cee,My teenage son who has OCD seems to have worse feelings or "thoughts" when he is under stress or taken out of his comfort zone. Since illness is a stress on the body, this may be the case for you, too. He also used to take 125 mg. and now is down to 50. In fact, he is having one of these times now, and I'm wondering about increased dosage for awhile. Since your post was from February, could you update on whether or not you increased dosage and whether or not the increased symptoms went away with time? Thanks! Linda

  • Hi Linda....I actually had an appointment with my doctor a couple weeks ago and asked him if illness or stress can throw you off whack and he said definitely.....I did increase back up from 25 mg to 50 and so far I seem to be a little less OCD and anxiety ridden.....kind of a crappy way to live to just be in a numb-ish zone but I'd rather feel numb than bad....the test will be the next time I'm really sick or stressed.....Good luck to your son! ~Cee
