  • Thyroid and Lyme can do this too. Has he been checked for those?? Just some other thoughts. Hope you find your answers. And Allergies and chemical sensitivities are often to blame. Also chronic dehydration is often overlooked. The brain is 85% water, if a person does not drink 8+ glasses of pure water (no juice, milk, soda) daily, the person is more prone to "depression". Most doctors who describe antidepressants are not holistically trained about the ways in which depression causes can be determined and eliminated.I have learned by my own experience and by reading many books on advanced health management, that is best to eliminate processed foods, sugar, milk, food additives from the diet of people who exhibit those symptoms. Some chemicals that appear harmless on most people, are responsible for mood changes and behavioral problems on many children and adults. Some substances in common snack food are really dangerous 'excitotoxins'.He is most likely suffering from dietary deficiencies as well.It would be great if you inventory his basic nutrients and you do a check list for all vitamins, minerals, trace elements, etc. Make sure he does not have deficiencies. See how he react after eating junk food in comparison with how he react when he spends a few days eating mostly raw, organic, made from scrap food.If he is still having trouble suspect multiple food allergies. Sometimes wheat is to blame. If you can't keep him from eating sugar- you can put a red flag on it.By sugar I mean, everything containing sugars:pop tarts, bacon, salad dressing, pop, chocolate milk, orange juice, boxed cereals, popscicles, meats with sweet sauces, etc. Not just hard candy or candy bars.I would strongly advise you to find a good JMT certified Kinesiologists who is trained in Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET) and take your soon for a simple non invasive muscle test. NAET trained practitioners of integral medicine understand who food incompatibilities or allergies can cause behavioral problems on children and can permanently eliminate allergies.Alcoholism and addictions to sugars are explained by NAET as an intolerance and dependence to the substance. Other foods can cause same effect on people.I have seen this type of cases happen in my family. Sometimes I wish someone would have told me about the risk of food additives and sugar as that would have explained what is now so obvious to me. Sometimes the signs are right in front of our face and we don't see them.Take care! Don't get discourage- there is so much out there you can research on to help your family.Best!Eatafruit78/

  • One more thing, Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique can treat successfully food/chemical trigger autism so you ought to look into it.I am currently undergoing NAET, and I feel very upbeat and peaceful. Also, I have been researching Reiki, it could work as a support treatment just to "recharge" your son with positive energy during the days he is feeling down.SincerelyEatafruit78.Arlington, VA.

  • I completely agree with last post! These are all things to look into. I would also like to suggest a form of therapy called Cranial Sacral Therapy. It is a gentle form of massage that deals with the cerebral spinal fluid and its movement. It is very helpful for ADD ADHD and autism. I am not sure if you can find someone who does this form of massage, but you can google this and also the Upledger Institute for more info. If the meds don't seem to be helping, please look them up on www.drugs.com and check for their side effects. Some meds can cause bipolar symptoms and other psychotic symptoms. Just do this to rule it out. He may do better on a different med. Follow your gut and please try the suggestions that EataFruit suggests.Best wishes,DOM

  • I hope the original poster came back and found these replies.I see this forum is getting more and more traffic everyday. The pain and sadness in this forum reflects that something is wrong with the medical profession.People often are confused. They think that to be "diagnosed" with a disease one has to have all the matching symptoms and that the absence of one or the presence of another one disqualify them from it. Doctors are playing Bingo with the patients. For a particular set of symptoms they have the pill. When one gives holistic advise in this forum, many give me answers such as:What the tastes buds have to do with the liver? How water or sugar is going to affect my health? How can I have an infection if I don't have a fever? When one is sick, one is sick all over. Every sickness have more than cause, specially chronic diseases.I think we should have a section in which people can look into preventive habits and advanced health management. What the Heart Association posted the day after yesterday on TV, is not really dealing with the issue. That's a good example. The AHA really shies away from the facts. They did not want to talk about how bad milk, cheese, and grains can be for the heart. And they could not explain why "2 portions of oily fish" will help anyone. The secret is in the proportions of omega 6 to omega 3.The ratio should be 3:1 max. but it really is 12:1 in most Americans diets. Which means we consumed way too much omega 6. But of course they are receiving money from the cereal people, so they have to stay hushed.Same thing with the Autism problem. I saw countless interviews on Autistic children and their parents and siblings and they never never never show them eating or shopping for groceries. The Nanny 911 show also overlooks the evident- all the kids how behave badly have one thing in common: the wrong diets for their type.I saw 3 angry kids crying and attacking each other over Oreo cookies (sugar link). If they were from a third world country and they were hunter gatherers, I would like to see if they were also going to also attack their siblings over mangoes, fish, or mud clams.Have a good day everyone and I hope you all get some sweet sunshine.Eatafruit78.
