Am I anorexic

I am a female and am 16 years old. Last summer from the time school got out to the time it started, I went from 150 and 5'7" to 110 and 5'7". Now my BMI and body fat falls under the athletic category. However, every time I see myself in the mirror all that comes to mind is "you are fat" or "obese", "overweight", or "disgusting". I wear a size three and I think that is way too large for someone 5'7''. I go to the gym 6 times a week ranging from one to four hours, usually about two and a half. Sometimes, I do not eat enough and have often thought about throwing up after meals. I count calories. My body is supposed to get about 1800 calories to just survive without all the exersize (2280 with exercize) and some days i get under 700. Within the last six months, I have lost 16% of my body fat. So, am I anorexic?

  • I'm just curious as to why you want to know?What do you hope to achieve by getting the label "anorexic."Have a think about why you do the things you do. Is it truy because you want to lose weight or is it about control?Whatever it is, you need to see a doctor as what you are doing is not healthy and could lead to pretty dire consequences. If you purge after a meal, you only actually lose 30% of the calories you ate.Going to the gym is good, but not everday and not for 4 hours at a time! Is this just an obsession to deflect from something going on in your personal life?The fact that you can speak about it, and suspect something is wrong is a very good thing, as many people with anorexia do not even realise what they are doing is wrong... but you seem to recognise what you're doing. I'm not sure if you know why your doing this, but its a good starting point.But go see a doctor/school nurse asap. Take a friend for support if you need it.The longer you leave this, the worse it will get, so do something about it as soon as possible.Good luck.I don't mind chatting to you further if you think it might be helpful :)
