Weird salt cravings...

I have very strange cravings for salt. I put salt on just about everything--sometimes so much that it numbs my tongue. At times the cravings are so strong I will pour salt in my hand and lick it. Is this weird craving related to any sort of deficiency? My blood pressure is always normal and overall I am healthy. Any recommendations for researching this odd craving??

  • Sounds like hypoaldosteronism. Your bloodpressure may be normal, but if you take your bloodpressure after getting up from a sitting position it will usually fall instead of rising with hyoaldosteronism. Other causes might adrenal related. I would ask to see and endo. Kiera
