Just want to chime in here with an experiment that i have started.
Like others who are injecting methyl, I continue to be plagued by cysts and acne. In an attempt to get this under control i have done quite a bit of reseach on B5 as an adjunct for acne treatment. Google it and you will hit several references, most notably from one Dr. Lit Hung Leung, who did the pioneering research in this area in the late 1990s.
Here is an excellent link with direct correspondence from him. Like me, he is a big believer in the theory that most people are sufferering from subclinical vitamin deficiences that affect several different aging processes and are the cause of many disease states.
I have started mega dosing with Pantothenic Acid (the non active form). The dr above recommends 10-20 grams. I plan to only go to around 4-5 g for my experiment. I also did research on the "active" form (pantethine), which in general requires much lower dosages for the equivalent efficacy for acne. I have not started taking this yet, but will keep the group posted when i do start it.
The dr. above goes into some detail as to why he thinks the RDA is far from the amount for optimal health.
I have a wild theory that all of this B12 that we are pumping into our bodies might be causing deficiencies in some of the other B vitamins. B5 is typically just added to a B multiple as an after thought in relatively small quantities (even though there is an RDA, no one really knows what the level should be). B5 is water soluble and has no mega-dosing health risks. There are some side effects. When B5 is in short supply, the CoA can be short supplied. CoA is used for a variety of things, most notably hormone production. It is a "fat metabolizer". If there is not enough B5 to produce adequate CoA, CoA can be short supplied. Furthermore, hormone production has priority. If there is very little of it left over fats tend to get deposited in the skin, increasing sebum production and leading to acne. That is the theory. Pumping large mounts of B5 should, in theory increase CoA and thus the "fat clearing" process. I have put it in very simplistic terms. CoA is very complex in reality. The above is the dr's theory in a simplistic nutshell.
My research has come up with quite a bit of anecdotal evidence for the acne clearing aspect of B5 mega-dosing.
