I am a 35 year old male in great shape until a month ago. I play basketball 3 times a week, go to the gym regurarly and have been in the construction industry almost 20 years. During a recent trip to visit family in GA I was digging with a shovel for an hour or so. That night my right arm was on fire, my hand was discolored and swollen and nothing I did provided any relief. The days to come didn't bring much change although slight improvements were noted. It has now been over a month and I have been to my doctor 4 times, neurologist, physical therapist, massage therapist, chiropractor, taken anti inflammatories, pain killers, steroids, muscle relaxers and although there has been improvements I still have very bazaar symptoms. As of a week ago there has been pain, stiffness and spasms in both arms where the tendons connect at the elbow. The pain is in the same spots on both arms. The top of the forearm and in the crease of the arm just above the elbow. The right arm has a spot at the wrist that feels like I burned it and my deltoid is completely numb. I had an EMG that showed nothing, a neck Xray that was perfect and have a MRI scheduled next week with little hopes of finding any answers. I can't extend either arm to the side without pain through the entire elbow connective tissues running up and down the arm. Feels like knotted up muscles that just will not relax although I am taking muscle relaxers. The next step is testing for neurological diseases which has me scared to death. Any ideas on what can cause such strange symptoms?Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
