Vasovagal attack??

This is a very weird tale, and also rather embaressing! so bare with me..

im a 23 year old male, work in an accountants firm in the uk. a normal working day, had my usual 6.5 hours sleep. Work was stressful, as per the norm. Hadn't eateN breakfeast, as per the norm.

Went to the toilet, to do a number 2 (sorry font want to get too graphic here), was slightly painful.

Next thign i know i'm on the floor of the toilet! I'd had a black out and hit my head on the floor. I remember telling myself to get up, and i shot to my feet in a panic not knowing what was going on. (luckily no mess to clean up:rolleyes:). I don't think i fainted as such, beacuse it was literally here on moment and 100% feelign fine, out the next.

Looked in the mirror was as white as a ghost, head hurting.

Went to the hospital later that night, sugar levels and blood pressure was fine. was told i'd suffered a vasovagal attack.

Should i be worried? Are these attack common, i know the'yre not life threatening but is this story in-line with the diagnosis?? All info appreciated!

cheers!

  • I was at home when it happened to me. I thought it was a heart attack. All of a sudden my body felt as if I lost pressure and I was in a weird state of being. I screamed to my sleeping wife to call the ambulance. Heart attack. Told my wife and kids I loved them. Then I got off the toilet and laid down. The EMT's said all the vitals were good but my blood pressure was a little low. They said it looks like a vasovagal nerve. I had been straining to evacuate and they said this caused it. Within minutes I was better and I declined the hospital trip. It's happened, although not's so bad a few times since. It scared the heck out of me. I would get it confirmed at your doctor. The EMT's said they have had so many people in this condition. It happens more than one would think.
