Twice now in my life I have had horrible vaginitis that I mistakenly thought was a yeast infection. It turned out that it was a strep infection that caused both vaginitis and rectal strep. I wasted a lot of time treating myself with yeast medications, so I advise anyone to get a swab right away. Treatment is with penicillin for 10 days.

  • yes the same thing has just happened to me and my son 9months old! I have been to the doctor twice and so has he! Get the swab when you think its jock itch or yeast. They didnt know what it was and wanted to treat it as a yeast infection. my son finally got the swab and sure enough it was strep, which explains what I have had!! We have been battling this for a month!!
