For the last year Ive been eating about a meal a day. I have had a self image problem for a while. But with the help of my boyfriend I am slowly overcoming it. Ive admitted to my eating disorder, but I have never once forced my food to come out. But the story goes on, and I realized I was getting sick about 5 weeks ago, I started vomiting after eating uncontrollably. I started vomiting every other day after a meal. Now for the last 3 weeks, after every meal I have (3 times a day), I immediatley vomit right after I eat (15-45mins after). I have never vomited prior to the last 5 weeks when it all started. It seemed unusual that it all started all of a sudden. My doctor says Im not use to having food in my stomach, but for the last 4 weeks Ive been eating 3 times a day and I really want to get healthy again. I just had dinner with a few friends, and while eating my dinner at the restaurant, the food came up uncontrollably. Ive taken gravol to stop the vomiting but it wont help. When I got home, I drank a full glass of water, and 5 minutes later I vomitted out the water and my dinner in the span of 30 mins (vomiting 7 times). I dont know what to do anymore, my throat is killing me and my doctor told me to wait and do a mouth enema (my appointment is 28 days from now). Have you guys ever heard of controllable vomiting after you eat????? I dont know what to do, I cant wait another 28 days of uncontrollable vomiting until they can do testing on my stomach!!! Someone please help!!!!!!!! I also have a sour feeling in my stomach all the time, and once I vomit it seems liek the sourness goes away.

Thankyou

  • The sour feeling in your stomache is the acid that your stomach produces and without food in your stomach you can feel it more. You might have excess acid produced and you could try antacids like tums or over the counter Pepsid. There could be more serious issues like infection, or a blockage in your digestive track. Since it has been going on for a while, you can go through the Emergency room of a good hospital and get some testing done.Good luck!

  • You can also try ginger root (chewing on it if you can take it, or making a tea with boiling lots of sliced pieces, or buying the candied version). Ginger is probably the best non prescription thing you can take for nausea, considering it is not acid production or something more serious.good luck!

  • I am so amazed that someone else has my problem!! I have had this for five years now and the doctors have said nothing new to me. I too have had every test run and seen every specialist. I hate to say I have no new news. The doctors tried different food such as thicker ones and they would come back up but it would hurt worse. If you are new to this I'm so so sorry!! I would not wish this upon anyone not even an enemy! I am never feel sick before I throw up but it just comes out and up. If it is thick it gets stuck and hurts but it to still eventually comes out. I can't keep down drinks, food, medicine, anything. This started when I was a junior in high school and I am now a senior in college.I am anemic and have lost over 60 pounds in five years because of it. I too pass out quite frequently and go to the bathroom more times than you can count in a day. I have tried the ginger root, I heard that a few years ago. I have had tests done and there is no blockage or access of stomach acid. I wish I could know what the heck to do!I have learned different ways to deal with it. My best friend know which makes it much easier on me. I have someone to talk to about it. When it hurts me and gets stuck in my throat I have someone there for me. I eat thing that are not thick (sort of jucier) like cereal with a lot of milk or spagetti o's. If something is thick I make sure I drink a lot during my meal so it will come up easier because I know it will and there is no stopping it. You do get used to it and it does get easier to live with. But there are somethings that you don't eat because of the taste when it comes back up or if it burns your throat when it comes up. You have to figure that out on your own. Some days it is not so easy to deal with. The days when you are at a dinner party and you have to get up like 10 times because sometimes it does not wait to happen till you are done eating because it will come up when it wants to.Sometimes I really wish I could sit down and eat a meal and not have to get up onver and over and just keep down that amazing meal I just ate, but I know that will not happen. I wish I could just be full and content for longer than five second. Also, being in college it costs a lot of money to be hungry all the time. You eat constantly because you are constantly hungry. All I can say is that it does get a little easier and you get very used to looking into the toilet bowl.If anyone finds out anything on this please post it! I to would like to end this problem! But I would like to say thank you to my best friend who has been there for me and listened to me rant about it, and made up reasons for me to others when I leave the table over and over. You can not tell them that you are throwing up because others want to jump to the conclusion that you have a eating disorder, and don't believe you when you don't. So thank you N!! Thank you!!

  • Kim!!!thanks for the reply.I have finally over come this uncontrollable vomitting!! I eat regularly 3 times a day now. It was a slow process, but in my case i had to slowly eat small portions daily and frequent as possible (5-6 small meals a day). Now my stomach has expanded and is no longer too tiny to hold the food in. I would suggest not eating such big meals and focus on eating smaller meals more frequently. So instead of eating 3 big meals a day, focus on eating 5-6 smaller meals. I hope this helps.

  • hey. its interesting to read all of your cases. it seems to me that i have a very similar case myself. i tend to throw up after i eat or sometimes mid meal just like all of you. this has been happening to me now for about a few weeks and its very random. does not occur every day but maybe it will? my appetite for food is very small. most my meals i force just because i know how long its been since i ate and i know i need to eat. its a very big pain. i wish to become healthy soon. does this sound similar to u?

  • I went through a period of several years ending 5 years ago, in which I would vomit spontaniously several times per day sometimes. I would wake up at night starting to vomit. Mine was caused by b12 deficiency. I had lots and lots of other symtoms. Come on over and look at the symptoms list and discuss the situation. http://forums.wrongdiagnosis.com/showthread.php?p=94012&posted=1#post94012

  • You need to go to hospital - don't worry about this too much - just get it seen to ASAP.Get allergy tested and then get an STD test - these can be free. The main thing is to DO SOMETHING about it as soon as you can. Get a friend to go to if you don't want to go alone.

I would suggest that you eat very small amounts of food, just a spoonful about 6-7 times a day. Try things like mashed spuds, rice, you know boring stuff just until you get your stomach OK again. You could buy ensure drinks this is a drink supplement I have used and it is easy to take and makes sure that you get your daily intake.Give it a few days BUT if things do not improve you MUST visit your doctor,Ian

  • I also had the same problem with you before. My doctor advised me to eat small amount of food at a time. Try starting with a spoon of food. Try to rest then eat again. You should eat small portion of food but frequently. If you don't vomit, do it within 3 days then gradually increasing the spoons of food. Take it slow. Help your stomach to adjust. Drink small amount of water but frequently. I also drink antacid before meas to help eliminate too much acid.

  • I have something called gastroperesis, which pretty much has all the symptoms you said. And it just came on suddenly one night after dinner, and I thought it was gastro at first but it kept on coming, and I never felt sick until after I'd vomited, which was odd. Gastroperesis is something where your stomach is kind of paralised in a way; it digests food and drink super slowly - a normal person has a lag phase (time before their stomach kicks in to dogest food) of around 10-15 munitues, whereas, mine is about 45 minutes (I know because I've had multiple gastric emptying studies done), and when my stomach does kick in, it's still really slow. For some reason that makes your stomach reject its food; it's to do with it building up and then becoming too much for the stomach to handle - but I don't know about that, because I vomit up so much, it's hard to believe there's anything there building up. But yeah, it gets really painful and tireing and it's a ****h because so many people think I'm bulemic, and believe me, I had my doubts because it took a year before it was diagnosed properly! So for that year I was vomiting heaps and feeling **** about it and believed people when they kept telling me it was probably pshycological because I wanted to vomit or something. The general idea with this is too eat up to 8 really small meals a day, instead of three main ones. Chew each mouthful around twenty times before yuo swallow, don't mix food with any liquids. Fatty, oily, fried, spicy, dairy foods and fizzy drinks are the worst for it. I recently had a gastroscope done, and during it, had botox injected into the lower lining of my stomach. Because botox is a muscle relaxant, it relaxes the small opening from the stomach to the intestines, allowing food to pass through more easily and quickly. I found, a month later, that things have really improved, but they're still far from ideal - vomiting minimum of twice a day. I also take Tazac which has worked best out of the lot of drugs I've been put on for it.Hahaha so yeah, sorry about the life story, but I thought you might like to check it out, I kind of stumbled accross this page accidentally, and it all sounded sooo soo sooooooo familiar, so I thought I'd offer my opinion :) Oh, and sport tends to make it a lot worse, even if I haven't eaten for hours before - it's because when you excercise a lot, you breath deeper and your lungs expanda lot more, which puts an increased downwards pressure on your stomach, compacting it more, increasing the chances of vomiting...Goodluck :)
