A few years ago I went to the doctors to see if he could help me with a very sore ulcerated throat.I couldnt swallow propely. He gave me a weeks supply of antibiotics and told me to come back to see if they worked. I did so for every week for abou 4 weeks each time seeing whichever doctor was availible and each time as nothing had worked at least 4 or 5 diffrerent antibiotics. The ulcers plainley visible were still there and my throat as bad after 5 weeks. Then one saturday morning I woke up gasping for air, I did not say anything to my wife but crept downstairs and sat in the garden trying to get my breath, eventually as it got no better I made my way to the local doctors and had to insist on seeing him quickly as I was really having to fight for breath. When he saw me he said I maybe was having a panic attack and I insisted I was not and that I was as calm as anyone could be under the cicumstances. He sent for an ambulance and they dragged me off to a ENT unit and after a few tests asked me to come back for a weeks in hospital observation. When I got there they then put me on a really strong antibiotic to clear up my 'throat infection' and consequently 'knocked' out my kidneys for a day. After all this time of suffering it took another 2 weeks to confirm my 'throat infection ' was actually a hiatus hernia causing the reflux of acid burning my throat. I was obviously relieved to know they had found out what it was but the suffreing I went through over 2 months because they had not performed the right tests and just kept fobbing me with antibiotics and the fact they did not believe my breathing problems now leaves me with little faith in GP's. Now I have a persistant cough for 2 months which has affected my voice and sometimes breathing and a feeling that something is stuck in my throat and guess what ... antibiotics (didnt work),chest xray (no results yet ) BUT WITH WHAT I HAVE ALREADY, IT COULD BE CANCER OF THE LARYANX AND THEY HAVENT EVEN LOOKED DOWN MY THROAT YET!!! 2 months...... I have a feeling of dej jah view they havent a clue have they?
