On May 20, 2003 I could barely walk up a flight of stairs. Since 1987 I had been a total basket case with FMS as bad as it gets. Fatigue was total, muscle and neurological pain was unendurable. My sense of smell and taste had faded. I could no longer smell or taste strawberries. My vision was dimmed. My hearing was muddied. I was dizzy all the time and throwing up a lot. I had blurry doubled vision in each eye separately. Burning bladder, red burning tongue, burning mouth, brisk reflexes, uncontrollable spasms all over my body, high blood pressure, 280+ pounds (maybe 80 pounds excess water, severe edema), numbness in my feet, my mucous was very thick and sticky like jelly, arms, hands, paresthesias, autonomic neuropathies, peripheral neuropathies, feet and legs so painful as to be useless a lot of time. I could walk 3 blocks and take a week to recover. In all I had more than 70 symtoms and signs, way more than the docs were comfortable with and causing a whole lot of IAIYH (It's All In You Head) amongst my docs as they would dismiss me from their practices because I INSISTED that there was really something terribly wrong. I was getting worse each year and they wanted to give me Zyprexa, a major antipsychotic to help me sleep better. My pharmacy bill was already $1000/month (selfpay). Over 100 health practioners of every specialty and variety had all failed to figure out what was wrong with me and missed hallmark symtoms over and over again.
On May 21st, 2003 at 6:05 pm my life changed. The Enzymatic Therapy sublingual methylb12 I had put under my tongue at 6:00 pm was starting to take effect. I out and out "rushed" for an hour as energy and life poured back into me. In one hour the abnormal fatigue of 16 years duration was fading away. The lights literally came on, 4x as bright, at least. My hearing cleared. 50+ years of depression lifted. In 10 days the terrible burning pain (lactic acid) was gone, the burning bladder and urethra were normal, my red burning tongue was normal, the veins of fire in my head were normal. My eyes were no longer blurry and doubled, I was no longer dizzy, I haven't thrown up since that day I could walk up stairs like a normal person.
Today, I am at least 99% healed. Most symtoms and signs of 4 years ago are just plain gone or almost so. The only significant remnant is some numbness in the muscles of my feet and those are currently changing. I weigh 212 pounds and dropping. For the first time in my life I sink in a swimming pool instead of floating. I can do 45-60 minutes on a Nordic Track and be good for the rest of the day. I feel the best I have in 30 years.
The details of the last 4 years and all of the interrelated vitamins and supplements that have allowed all this is an important part of the story. I'm a systems analyst. I have 3 children and a child's boyfriend all with the same kind of problems and similar responses. I have my entire life history and that of my 3 adult children. I can trace the signs and symtoms as they developed and changed, of the combined b12 and folate deficiencies I had all the way back to infancy in myself and 3 children.
I know what I did, and why (following research articles) and the results. I have identified approximately 175 symtoms so far that people with b12 deficiencies appear to have to one extent or another in many combinations. I am putting together a series of screening questions and a computer program for scoring them for detecting these deficiencies. I'm sure that I can do it. I've asked hundreds of people variations of these questions and then observed the effects on them of taking a single 1000mcg sublingual tablet challange dose. Brands matters. Some brands show no effect what so ever.
I've done 5000 hours of reading all the research I could find. I have constructed a pharmacokinetic model of methylcobalamin, oral, sublingual and injected. I also have one year of experience of injecting 4.375 mg per day every day and can explain the reason for doing so. The standard b12 treatment methods came very close to killing me and is doing the same to others with the same biochemistry as I have.
I will explain everything over a month or two with additional posts on this string. I have a lot of unique experience and am willing to answer questions. And I am fully functioning as a systems analyst once again. It's good to be alive.
