A little over 3 months ago I was told that I was on the low side of normal with B12. It was 388. My doctor told me to take 1000mcg every day for 3 months and get checked again. Well, I got Sally's book and found out a lot of information, which of course my doctor didn't share with me. I convinced him to do a b12, folate, homocystine, MMA test this time. The MMA urine test is for some reason not available in New York State and my doctor was unaware that this test even existed so he ordered the blood. Anyway, still waiting on the results of MMA and Hom. but did get B12 of 472 and Folate of 16.7. As far as I know, folate looks good and I know that there was an increase in B12 but not much and In my opinion, it's still too low.
My question is is the increase from 388 to 472 in 3 months good or not? Will my levels improve in time with taking the same 1mg or should something more be done? I am still having symtoms with numb big toes, facial twitch and a few other things.
I will get the results of the other 2 tests in less than a week but wanted to know what you think.
