I had an abscessed tooth, and that in turn caused the cheek next to the tooth to become abscessed too. I had no pain or marks inside my cheek either, but it went from flat to looking like I was smuggling a baseball in my cheek from the outside within a week. If your problem is what mine was, you'll be put on high strength antibiotics which should reduce the swelling before having the abscess drained (either via needle, or some other way). I ended up in the hospital connected to some very potent antibiotic IV medications, and getting 3 teeth extracted (1 was abscessed, and the other 2 right next to it were in fairly poor shape). Also, if you've ever smelt the smell of a dead skunk on the highway, you know how the smell is so bad that you can taste it? If you taste something like that near where your jaw is swollen, that's a sure sign of an abscess.
