What kind of stroke causes the blood in the brain to flow in reverse. My friend had a stroke this week and the doctor said her blood was flowing in reverse. what kind of damage can this cause? thanks cindy

  • Hi sindylew, i think maybe u misunderstood what the doctor said, blood can not flow in reverse. There are two types of stroke.... one caused by a blockage that stops the blood flowing through, & if blood cant get throught, that means the point beyond the blockage will not recieve oxygen therefore cause's the brain cells to die. The other one is a brain hemorrhage where there is a rupture, this causes a massive bleed in the brain. No two strokes are the same and damage would all depend on a number of things, so really it would be impossible to tell u what is happening to ur friend or what the lasting damage would be, only her doctors would know that.
