Hi, my name is Brittany. For the last six months I have been experiencing a pain on both of my upper abdominal sides and on my upper back. I have been in and out of hospitals because the pain gets so intense. I have seen 3 different specialists about this problem and still there is no solution as to why I am in pain. The final diagnosis was Medullary Sponge Kidneys. I was told that this condition however does not cause the type of pain I am in and was told to seek advice from a nuerologist. I have been having a twitch feeling in my leg for the past week. It just twitches for a couple minutes like a heartbeat several times a day. Does anyone have any advice they can give me. Please!!!

  • i am suffering from pain in the kidneys and was told that it wasn't possible. in june 2006 i started getting a pain in my right abdominal side and sought help from a urologist. after numerous tests they thought that it was kidney stones which turned out to be wrong. i was put on vicodin for pain and some type of antibiotics which turned out to be pointless. i was then referred to a gastrointerologist because i started to get stomach aches really bad when the pain started. shortly after, the pain traveled to my left side also and the eventually my back. the gi doc did a bunch of tests and found gastritis, esophigitis and stricture. i was then referred to a nephrologist who diagnosed me with bilaterral medullary sponge kidneys. i was told that it is a rare genetic disease with no cure or treatment and there was no way that it was causing me to be in extreme pain because those weren't symptoms of the disease. my abdominal side are soo tender even to the touch and now they are telling me that i may have some type of nerve damage. i know what it feels like to be in constant pain. i am 21 yrs old. i too suffer from anxiety and take more medication than i can name. i have migraine headaches also and a cyst on my left kidney. i also have a heart condition. all my xrays show my kidneys are swollen and i have had kidney stones and kidney infections in the past. i am starting to feel like no one understands how i feel.i have been on painkillers(vicodin, demerol, morphine) for the last 7 months and still no answer to why i am in pain. please give me some hope so i don't feel so alone. thanks!
