Well, I guess to start, I was recently diagnosed with Graves Disease, which if I understand correctly caused me to develop Hyperthyroidism. Which in itself was very hard to get diagnosed. I was ill for a very long time. Now they think they have my thyroid under control, but are trying to figure out what treatment to administer. I smoke cigs, so this complicates things a bit. They want to administer the radiation pill to kill the thyroid and then I will just have to take a thyroid replacement for the rest of my life. To get to the point , they needed to know what kind of damage has been done to my eyes, (because of the Graves Disease). The condition of my eyes would dictate whether I can receive the radiation pill. Come to find out it isn't looking to good for me, especially if I don't quit smoking. (I have had a problem with my eyeballs bulging out, among other things). To find out the extent of my eye condition, I had to have a Cat Scan done. I today received the results of this CT Scan and noticed at one point it said, Concentric mucosal thickening is noted in the right sphenoid sinus. There is mild rightward convex curvature of the nasal septum anteriorly. Impression: Sphenoid sinus disease.
Okay, now I am looking at my endocronologist, I think I spelled that correctly, and I am asking her what the heck that means, and I got a bunch of phooey. Never a real answer. Does anybody know if the Eye problems associated with the Graves Disease is related in any way to a sinus problem? Or does anybody know what Sphenoid Sinus Disease is? Is it serious? Any help would be appreciated.
