Hi, haven't had a chance to get to the doctors yet. New in town and don't have a referral so it might be a while before I have a chance. Noticed fingers of both hands began swelling a couple months ago. Moreso in the morning, with the skin feeling stretched with a numb pain in all my fingers. Skin appears very smooth and waxy and reddish at times. There are times when I have difffulty making a fist. With the cold weather here now (-20C) I find my exposed fingers are quickly affected. Had an instance last week where a walk with my hands exposed to freezing temperatures for just 10 minutes resulted in extreme pain that lasted for 3 times as long. I find my toes now appear somewhat swollen but do not cause me any pain or discomfort. Anybody experience something similar.
Thanks, J

  • Hi,I was watching a special last night on the discovery channel with symptoms simillar to what you are explaining. In that case, the patient had swelling of hands, feet and ankles. The skin on the hands were also as you described as "waxy and reddish". You may want to see an internest to eleminate sclaroma (not sure of the spelling). This is an auto-immune disorder causing scaring on tissue. Good Luck Ken S
