my son is 24 yrs old and has severe mental retardation, cp, with a seizure disorder because of a interutirine infection. his seizures last from 10 min. to 8 hours. he has severe shaking of all extremities but is very alert to all around him. he responds to his name and crawls all over the place while having these seizures. stress seems to be his main trigger, like changes in the household, ect. he takes ativan to calm him, but sometimes it takes awhile. i just want to know if anyone else has ever had this condition and what steps they take to keep it in check. he has the mentallity of an 8 month old also. i have looked on the internet for this condition but can find nothing.... surely were not the only ones...
symptoms while in seizure:
profound sweating
jerking of entire body
responds to voice
afterwards laughs
