In December of 2008 I was kicked in the head. Suffering a major concussion I was sent home and off work for a bit.. Shortly after being kicked in the head I developed a severe red eye. At first it was not an issue and did not bother me as much. Or at least thinking back I can't remember if it did or didn't. It is now April 2009 and since then the eye issue has gotten worse. MORE SO now and I am not sure how to deal with it. After dealing with the red eye and finally pain setting in to the point of not handling it *severe* I attended back home for my moms funeral and ended up at the Emergency room. The physician there was very concerned that I had glaucoma and sent me to our eye facility in the city that I reside in. There I was advised that the next day I would be seeing a EYE specialist on call. SO I attended and was highly disappointed in what I was advised by this physician. When he examined me and I explained my pain and how long I had this issue he told me that it was episcleritis. So of course my initial question to him was, "well what causes this *explaining I was kicked prior to this eye issue* and he told me it was bad luck" BAD LUCK??? I was at this point living with this red eye for over a month. I was set up to see another specialist after this, and was told that this issue was not known what the causes were. And that I had to just have it treated. After seeing this one specialist and being placed on prednisone pills 80 mg per day. I was again sent to another specialist as the condition had went further then the epi and into the schlera. The pain still there, and being prescribed mega doses of ADVIL or Anti inflammatory meds and then losec on top of that. I also was on Prednisone drops 3 times a day. This not working I was taken off the prednisone as it caused Aggitation and severe mood swings. They then placed me on Indomethacin 30 mgs. Which has since been upped to 50 mgs with the prednisone drops every one hour. The pain however has not been addressed. I have been to see specialists every 2 weeks at least and have had numerous visits to the Emergency for the severe pain and photosensitivity. The last visit I had has left me a bitter taste in my mouth. I attended the emergency and could not manage the pain... Medicating myself so much with Tylenol1 after the anti inflammatories do not help or give me much relief. The physician who was assigned to me said "so, you have presented here plenty of times now" Not realizing that I work at the particular place, nor not realizing that at this place is where I was kicked and this situation began. This physican stated that the medication was the right meds that I was on and should be helping me. Well if it was helping me, I would not be there???? But I was. HE advised the RN to provide me with a shot of morphine and send me home. Well the shot did not help my eye, it helped the headache associated with the eye but the eye still hurt. *not as bad but it did hurt* I am at my wits end, I do not know how to deal with this nor do I even want to attend the ER anylonger. As I sit here my eye has gotten worse, the pain which had occurred every 5-7 days before is almost constant. I fear I will hurt my liver from the amount of tylenol I am using.... But the pain overcomes that fear now. I find that my eye has become very blurred and the vision is progressively getting worse. The pain, remains... and my mind is now starting to suffer. I have been off work now for sometime... AND I seem to no longer function as a normal human being. IM confused and I don't know what more to do. IF someone knows of something like this, or can help me understand where to go from here it would be appreciated.Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
