I have suffered with recurring staph auerus facial infections every three months for three years now, ever since I left Active Duty. I've also had two UTI's, kidney infections, pericarditis, and general overall sickness for three years. Prior to 2007, I was a very active individual running 20 plus miles per week , strength training etc... Now, I cannot even work due to these constant infections, fevers, doctor visits etc... I am taking 7-10 days off per month from work. The latest was three weeks! No one will even hire me now and not to mention I barely feel like working most of the time because I am so sick.
Every time these doctors so call "culture" this infection they never seem to want to get the oozy material out of the lesions they just rub the top and swab the nose. Of course, it always comes back positive for Staph Aureus but not MRSA. However, I am not buying it. Why is this constantly recurring? I have never had any infection including UTI's or Staph in my entire 42 years!!!

I have also been diagnosed with Dermatitis Herpetiformis aka Skin Celiac. I have been gluten free for one and a half years but I still suffer with malabsorption issues to the point where I am on monthly B-12 injections, Potassium and several supplements that are gluten free.

I really think there is some underlying root cause with my immune system but the doctors said they don't "think" so. I want them to run tests because living like this is not normal. I really want my life back but if that is not possible then I really do not want to continue living like this. The last three years have been ***l on me and my family financially, emotionally and physically. This has really taken it's toll.

The last three years have been ***l on me and my family financially, emotionally and physically. This has really taken it's toll. Went to the Derm last week and I am no longer on antibiotics-Whew! However, I now have to apply Muprocin ointment to the wound and my nostrils twice a day. They are going to "check" my Iron and IgG levels and sub levels. I still say there is something wrong with my immune system. I am still on my supplement regiment combined with internally taking Tumeric, unadulterated Pure Cranberry Juice and Blackstrap Molasses. I am intrigued by Velha's information on B-12 and I just might tell my PCP that I might obtain better results with internal pills vs. the injections. I already use Country Life Brand because it is GF. So I could easily switch. I am not holding my breath on them "finding" anything because I truly believe that my issues are on a cellular level and western medicine will not find or be able to fix the root cause of all of this. I do hold out some small ray of hope that through alternative treatments, supplements and essential oils I may be able to eventually heal?. Any suggestions are very much welcome!!!

When you were on active duty did you enounter any type of toxin that could be contributing to your immune system problems? You might try taking modified citrus pectin for three or four months to see if it might make a difference. I also suggest you get checked for the status of your dermatitis herpetiformis, with serum tests and an EGD biopsy. You will have damage to your villi if you are getting gluten unintentionally into your diet. If your villi are damaged it would certainly explain the fatigue and possibly the ongoing infections. At the least you should have follow-up serum antibody studies, but the repeat biopsy could provide a lot of answers to you if positive. Because you have taken so many antibiotics, you should definitely be taking a good probiotic. In fact, if you can afford it, try getting back on track with VSL#3 probiotic, then maybe switch to a less expensive one. Note: whatever else you do, do not let them talk you into a gluten challenge before the biopsy - just tell them you need to know the status of your villi, while on your current diet.
