My daughter recently had a pulmonary valve replacement and the operation was a success. I was told that a sample of the tissue valve was sent to the lab for testing at the time the surgery. This was done as routine. 5 days later the sample had grown bugs later said to be Candida. She then had blood cultures done and these test are not complete as yet.
