I recently posted a thread under psychiatry - but as I've been going over my symptoms and different websites - I've felt I need to include more about my gastrointestinal issues.
In a nutshell - I'm am constantly sick to my stomach and depressed.
Almost every single time I eat, I have bad diarrhea within 30 min to 1 hr. This has been happening for at least 12 years. At first, I was told I just had IBS and they didn't have anything to help. 2 years ago I went to a GI who has put me on bentyl. That helps sometimes, but not always. I also have acid reflux issues. Recently, I've had severe abdominal pains. I also feel bloated and get a lot of gas. The pain was so bad once, I went to the emergency room and I was told it was just another IBS issue.
Depression - I have been depressed all of my life. A lot of that has to do with my environment that I was in. I am in therapy for that. Also, I've been on at least 29 different anti-depressants/mood stabilizers/ADD/sleep medicines to try and help. They don't/haven't helped.
I seem to be very sensitive in many ways. Even at small doses, I could not tolerate the meds for depression. If there was a side effect of fatigue, well I'd end up sleeping 14 hours straight. And my guts seem to not like me.
Recently I've had this weird shooting pain that at first started at my knee and shot down to my ankle. Then it moved and started at my elbow and shot to my wrist.
I get a lot of headaches and migraines. But more debilitating is my extreme fatigue. I've had an MRI before to rule out MS and that was ok. I saw a neuro-ophthalmologist that said to just take ibuprofen for the headaches.
I recently underwent an endoscopy and colonoscopy. I do have a hiatus hernia and some esophagitis. But no answer for the chronic diarrhea. I was told just to take immodium. But all the time and everyday?
Now its reached the boiling point. I am severely depressed and worried. I don't want to continue such a miserable way of life if I don't have to. It is now at the point that ECT is being suggested. I don't want to do that. :(
I have not been tested for vitamin levels. After doing some research, I'm trying to learn more about celiac disease. One parent and my only sibling also have been told they have IBS. My parent has been struggling CFS for 12 years, which doesn't seem right. My sibling has MS. Maybe at the end of the day, it was just something in the water at my house. I don't know but I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts and input.
