Pins and Needles to severe hand paralysis

This past weekend something very unusual happened to me while I was hooking up with my boyfriend. It was quite scary. I only mention that we were hooking up because it may have something to do with what was going on biologically in my body. Basically, I suddenly began to feel pins and needles throughout my face and hands and arms. At first I didnt think much of it and attributed it as an odd feeling of being in the "moment". However, it very quickly grew quite severe, to the point where I was having difficulty controlling my facial movements and my hands became tight, clenched, and useless. It's a bit difficult to explain, but my the muscles in my fingers, hands, and forearms were all fully clenched and tense. My boyfriend could undo my fingers from their curled and awkward position, but they would immediatly return to their clenched state. It reminded me of what my grandmothers hands looked like during the last few years of her life, distorted, tense, and lacking any real mobility. It was very scary and the whole thing lasted for about 30 minutes. My hands and forearms did eventually relax and return to normal and I have no sypmtoms currently. Does anyone have any idea what happened to me?
