periodic high fevers

Ten years ago I had my first bout with a high fever and chills. At that time my temp was 103 for two days gradually dropping to normal. I had no other symptons. The same thing happened about once a year until it stopped two years ago. Yesterday, however, the same happened again. A high fever of 102, chills and sleepiness with no other sypmtons.

I have arthritis and am concerned that I have undiagnosed lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. I have been to three specialist who don't have any idea what is causing this but say it isn't lupus or rheumatoid arthritis.

This comes on very rapidly and there is nothing I can do but take to my bed and wait it out.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.
