My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for a 6 months. During my annual gyn/ob visit I told my doctor that I have been experiencing abdominal pain, cramping and sharp pains around my the area where my ovaries are and asked her if this could be the cause of our inability to conceive. She performed a transvaginal ultrasound and found 2 masses, 1 on each ovary. She said they are most likely cysts (dermoid cyst and perhaps an endometrioma). She prescribed birth control pills to help decrease and/or eliminate the masses. After a month I went back for a second ulrasound. One of the masses was completely gone but the other was still there, however it did decrease in size. She scheduled a diagnostic laparoscopy to remove the cyst. She excised the dermoid cyst and had it tested for cancerous cells and performed ablation to my other ovary to eliminate endometriosis. This was a day surgery so I was in and out. I took about 2 weeks for recovery and after the 1st month I'm somewhat back to normal. My biopsy of the dermoid cyst came back normal, with no cancerous cells present. It has been a total of 8 months now that we are trying to conceive but no luck. My husband had informed me that he has been experiencing a burning sensation during the time we have intercourse. He has even shown me what looks like a chemical burn on his penis. He said that this all started about 2 years ago but has increased in occurrence since my diagnosis of the dermoid/endometrioma. I all feel a burning sensation even when we are not having sex. I have also noticed that the sharp pains around the ovaries area is coming back and I have had cramping and abdominal pain. I'm having mood swings and losing my appetite. I don't know if his symptoms are related to mine but I just find it peculiar what he is experiencing is so close to the time that I'm experiencing all these symptoms. If anyone else is experiencing the same problems I would greatly appreciate hearing your story and try to piece this puzzle together. Thank you.
