Ovarian cyst

My wife has been diagnosed with a complex septated ovarian cyst. My understanding is that most cysts of a fluid composition are natural and will go away on their own, because this is a more firm cyst, I wonder if it will have to be removed. The Doctor has indicated that in this case he would like to wait 4 to 6 weeks and then re - ultrasound to see if there is any change. Does anyone know the most recommended treatment regime for this type of cyst - it is 3 cm in diameter? There are other complications in that she is not menstruating due to a partial hysterectomy, but is premenopause. This is not a run of the mill case of ovarian cyst, I am hoping someone may have some experience with this.
