Firstly sorry about my poor English.

Right,

I'm 25 year old male 6foot tall and weigh 13stone so I'm not really unhealthy, I do smoke and drink occasionally.

Over the past 12months I have notice myself getting out of breath easy, its got worse over the last 6months its a point now that walking up a slight hill results in me getting out of breath, I can no longer play sports because after 5mins I'm fighting for my breath, often resulting in me vomiting and causing me to go really lightheaded. It takes ages till I'm feeling ok again.

Another thing this ones hard to explain, often when trying to sleep I can be lying there and all of sudden i'll sit up quickly after a weird sensation type thingy, feel like I have stopped breathing for a moment and my body has just kicked back in, this also causes me to get out of breath, this can happen a couple of times a night but sometimes dose not happen at all, I have noticed the more tired I am the more likely it is to happen, Its actually quite scary and I have even thought about recording myself trying to get off to sleep, once I'm sleeping i'm fine, I sleep like a baby, without the weeing of the bed.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong?

any helps greatly appreciated.

For many people it's dependent on position, depth of sleep, etc. It's something you should definitely see a doctor about, as it can be fixed/helped in a number of ways. As for the easily winded, I'd also say have a doctor visit. If you weren't 25 and otherwise healthy, I'd say go quickly, as the sudden inability exercise without being winded sounds like a heart issue. Either way, play it safe and see a physician. Best not to mess around with breathing issues. Be well!
