Since a visit to the dentist three months ago after an extremely painful injection in my back left gum my face neck and head are numb. I also have a tingling sensation in different parts of my left arm and leg. The dentist sent me to a maxillofacial consultant. They did an x ray and it showed there was no damage to the nerves. He said it was probably my brain remembering the pain and prescribed 30g amitryptiline. I can only take 10mg and up to now there is no change in my symptoms. At Easter together with the numbness i had extreme pressure in my head and a burning sensation radiating from my temple. I also found the worse the pain the worse the pins and needles in my arm and leg. They gave me codeine and diclofenac which took the severity of the pain away and diagnosed trigeminal neuralgia. I do not want to start this medication unless im sure that's what it is. I have an appointment with the consultant again in July.
