My mother is 55 years old, have sound medical history and no major illness. in may 2006 she suffered from sudden severe loose motions. the local physician gave her a medicine to stop the loose motions but she kept complaining of severe weakness and nausea with abdominal pain. this led to many test including CT scan, MRI, endoscopy, almost all relative blodd test including one for liver, gall bladder even xrays of the spine. almost all test were done for the entire abdomen except pancreas. she lost lot of weight over next three months, almost 15 pounds. a biopsy was also performed to rule out any type of cancer. every single report came out normal, there seemed to be nothing wrong. she continues to feel sever upper abdominal pain followed by weakness and lack of hunger, also she cannot eat normal diet (she is a vegetarian)because as soon as she eats
anything that has fat content, it causes her the abdominal pain.
the investigation is going on till date, she has been to many doctors who keep suggesting one or the other thing and she gets the tests done but unfortunately no one has been able to diagnose what is causing her the abdominal pain. At the moment she is seeing a specilist who has suggested her that the pancreas may have some kind of disorder in them but even that is not confirmed yet.

it has been almost 6 months but no tests, no doctor and no medicine has been able to either help her or know the cause of pain in the upper abdomen.

If we are overlooking any aspect or if anyone has suffered in the same manner, please let me know what can i do to get the right diagnosis. if anyone can suggest us anything that can help her, please do.

Thank you
Aditi

  • This was my name when I recieve the injuries to the hand. Causing me A accute blood clot. Well came to the Hopital for the cramps that I get every month real bad. But the triage nurse started in on me to shut up crying that I was acting like a baby that anyone could handle a little cramps. Well I give it to here for talking to me like I was child and all my kids are over 21 years old all I know is I being trying to resolve this matter with the hospital staff who has never return my message she just said that it has been taken care of and I told her what about my justice and injuries and it appears that I not being hear for some reason and I've tried to do is tell the truth about the mental and psyical abuse that I substain a this Hospital. Is there something mention somewhere in a text that if a black talk back to a white leader that they would be punish. This is the way I feel that I'm black and have no voice because I have no umbrella of support. I taught if I was a America that if I just told the truth I could go on my word and correct and nogociate my problems the christain way. I know I could have live perfect but I never seen nobody live this way or acted real nice most of the time like I do. I will do anything to help mankind I never tried to distory anything. I only hurt myself because of all the pain not having nobody to tell the truth to help this ugly lie that the staff member of the hospital has painted to distroy to not ever have medical treatment like the other culture of humans. All I know is that God loves me and he will have the last word. Thank you will you help me make difference.

  • To me it really sounds like cancer of the pancreas. My uncle has it. All the same symptons. It is a dreadful beast. Get her to a teaching hospital ASAP!

  • Have any doctors considered her appendix? I was sick for 2 years, with similar symptoms, before they diagnosed me with Chronic Appendicitis, and took out my appendix. No test was ever conclusive (blood test, Cat Scan, Barium series, etc.). Doctors look for abdominal pain in lower right abdominal quadrant, but mine was in upper to mid abdomen. Hopefully this might help a bit.

  • starting in March I had vertigo for two weeks, then the diharrea and then the weight loss. I was having severe pain in my stomach. Since April I have lost 60lbs and am still losing. I am a vegetarian. I don't eat large amounts of food and no junk as I am afraid of the pain returning. I have noticed my stomach feels better since I stopped eating anything with wheat in it (its hidden in a lot of stuff so read labels) and gluten. I am still losing weight though and have a lot of pain in my arm muscles and lower left rib area. I have had numerous tests and all come back normal. I still have no answers. I see an internal medicine doctor on Dec. 4th. I also get tired easy, not as bad as a few months ago though. I think I went through a major depression due to feeling so bad. I am 46. Maybe try to cut out wheat and gluten. If they figure out something, let me know, maybe it will help me?? THanks

  • If you have an intolerence to gluten and you've been eating it for a while, you can also develop a similar intolerence to dairy, soy, corn, and other foods. Sometimes these are temporary because of the gluten, sometimes its permanent if the damage is significant enough. It is usually caused by "replacing" wheat/gluten with another food type. For this reason, Soy intolerences are common with wheat intolerent vegetarians.

  • If you suspect that "gluten" might be the cause or related to any problems..then I recommend you start learing as much as possible about Celiacs Disease.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celiac_disease
