I am 53 years old and have been in process of menopause for the last year. As of March of this year I did not have a period until July 1st. I am still bleeding which prompted me to go to the doctor. They found 3 large fibroid tumors 2 the size of golf balls and one the size of a tennis ball. I am extremely tired I have major leg pains especially in my calves. It feels like someone hit me with a baseball bat right on the calf of each leg. The doctor has suggested an abdominal hysterectomy. I am not sure that my doctor considered my leg pain to be of concern.
My history of varicose veins started with my second pregnancy 26 years ago. The doctor then suggested that I not carry any more children because of the extreme problems I had with my veins. I did have my right leg stripped in my thirties and no major problems until now. Both of my grandmothers had severe varicose vain problems and blood clot issues. One grandmother died because of a blood clot during surgery.
Is there anyone out there who has had similar problems? I believe the pressure of these fibroids is causing the problems in my legs.
