I would like to say that I have had the unfortunate opportunity of seeing the devastation marijuana can bring, my son has been in and out of the accute psychiatric ward for the last three years~six admissions in total, this has been unquestionably due to marijuana use. While he seems to be in the small percentage that absolutly cannot tolerate this toxic substance, because of the nature of drug use, insight has eluded him, resulting in continued use against all medical advise. These years have taken me to places that I have not wanted either myself or my son to be in, I have found that overwhealmingly the patients in lockdown are, or have been drug users, marijuana is a constant mentioned. While some appear to get away with it, I am told by psychiatrists that even ten years or more down the track there will be consequence and that it does catch up with users. What I find distressing is that those in the minority who have seemingly escaped immediate negative effect of marijuana use say with such authority that it does not harm, I have been witness to the fact that this is not the case, in fact far from it. Its very use causes disassociation from reality and insidious deception, I wonder how much more brilliant these lives and minds would be without drug use.

Hi Unregistered, I understand your anger here. I have had to deal with similar though not as severe family problems. Anger however, doesn't solve the problem. I'm going to offer you something that I do know that might help, or might not. The reason a few people have much more severe atypical responses to marihuana are completely unknown. A few years ago in solving my problems, having to do with a severe chronic vitamin deficiency that was unrecognized for years, I did an informal study of approximately 1000 people being given a specific vitamin. Among those people were some teenaged drug users. 100% of them had a very strong response to this vitamin indicating that they were deficient. This vitamin has a profound effect on moods and personality. It's lack can cause hallucinations of visual, olfactory, auditory, tactile and multisensory types as well as psychosis. It can put an end to these in hours sometimes. If you want to know more about it just repond here and I'll give you the information.

However, the familial stress completely devastated him and he is still recovering from it. It turns out he has serious insomnia, depression, and anxiety, and this went unchecked for a very long time, thinking it was "all from the pot". No, the pot HELPED and THAT is why he kept on using it. Some people can have very strange reactions from any psychoactive... and they shouldnt be using them in that case, for example, if they get psychotic reactions. However, in no case does pot *cause* "insidious lying", and if your son is just using it in a similar way, please consider that it may help him, and he may be uncomfortable using it due to your reaction, thus causing your lying. So, bottom-line: if it causes something like actual psychosis or similar things, he should not be using any drugs. If he simply keeps using marijuana without your permission and won't stop, attacking him for it will just reinforce negative feelings, more dishonesty, he will likely lose motivation in school and feel like he has failed, and that can perpetual itself forever...So please think about what you do instead of just jumping the gun
