loss of appetite, nausea, swollen stomach

I am an active woman of 61 years. My heartrate has been as low as 42-50 but found the heart muscle "young and fresh", valves functioning, but something wrong with the electricity to sinus, but no treatment given. This has been in 1999. I have complained of "lung insufficience feeling" when I have to climb up stairs or hills but no x-ray taken or no diagnose given except that "you are improvising this heart rate and peeping in the breast when running or walking upstairs". I have lived with these symptoms and I have had a swollen stomach which I thought was due to my gluten intolerance. I have had a nausea, loss of apetite and if I eat a small meal I feel that my stomach is full and heavy as if I have swallowed a huge stone. I just had one deciliter cooked rice, 50 g chicken and 50 g potatoes and that should not make me feel so heavy if there is nothing wrong in the stomach. I also got bile taste in reflux on a few occasions and that was after eating a slice from cakeshop. I usually do not eat fatty foods and try to keep my fat intake between 15 to 30 grams a day.

I had taken estrogen for 3 years and stopped them four years back because I got plum size cartilage growths on my thighs and the gynocologist noted that I have a myom.

I look young and healthy, and I take at least one hours walk a day apart from being on feet most of the day time.

I suspect it is something wrong with my liver or a tumour in the stomach or both. But I hate to go to a doctor who cannot find the problem and feel compelled to make a diagnose and endup saying that I am imagining things.

Would you be able tell me what you think?

  • I have the same exact symptoms. If I eat too much, I end up sitting in front of the toilet all night.

  • I have noticed that for a few days now my stomach is swelling every time I eat something no matter how small.....I went to the ER 2 days ago because I was scared that I may be having liver or gall bladder problems.....The Dr. did not bother to do any lab work or sono. to see what the problem is......I was told it could be stress related.......It is very painful at times....and very uncomfortable....I look like a pregnant woman......If I find out anything I will post it. Please let me know if you find out what the cause is. Thank You! April xapril77x@yahoo.com

  • Hi, this sounds like it could be IBS. My aunt has similar symptoms to you, and uses Mebeverine Hydrochloride, which is an antisposmadic, to help control the symptoms. It could also be mild Colitis, or Diverticulitis, which can also be helped with medication, or even surgery. I'm no dr however, but you should get referred to a Gastroenterologist. Good luck , I hope it all gets sorted!

  • hello i am reading up on some of these forums because, my mum work partner has recently been feeling very unwell, it all seemed to stem from when she had a bit of flu bout 6 weeks ago. since then she has had hardly any appetite, feels tired as she taking painkillers, bloated stomach and generally just not very well. her stomach looks like a pregnant woman. she is 60 and has always been fit and healthy.she went to docs yest and doc was very concerned and booked her in for an emergency scan today. could this be cancer? tumour perhaps? or just prolonged stomach bug or something.anyone have any ideas cos we are so concerned for her x
