For about 2 months I had bad anxiety attacks. I then started a phase where I was in a lot of pain and couldnt control my emotions. Now I feel better, but just feel empty. I dont feel happy, sad, tired, nothing at all. While I dont hate this, it is difficult to have any motivation to do anything. A couple of months ago I convinced myself I was dying and not going to get better. Now, I feel a little better but I have no care for ANYTHING. Ive taken Lex for a couple days with no big side effects excpet major dry mouth, but have no improvement. Is this a good drug for teens to take and would it be good in my case?

  • Hey HBoy. I replied to one of your post farther down. As i said i am going through somewhat similiar symptoms. I will be 24 tomorrow and all of this just came on me at once. I have not yet seen a doctor,so i dont claim to be able to help anything, but something i have found that has helped me is soak in a hot bath to relieve stress and tension from your muscles. Also find something you enjoy. Playing a video game, reading a book, Something that gets your mind off of feeling so empty. I have my good and bad days, but it seems to be coming along fairly well. My sister is into the Essential Oils and stuff. And made me together something for my baths. It is suppose to relieve stress, anxiety, depression, and calm you down. I will let you know how that goes as well. Also when i start feeling down in the dumps. I have to stop and remind myself. That i am stronger than this. This is not me and i cant let it get the best of me. I know its hard to convince myself that, but if i put that in my head long enough it seems to relieve me some. Taking deep breaths from time to time also helps me. Getting a good back/neck massage seems to help a ton also. I found a good website from this forum you might should look into. Helped me look at positive and not so much negative http://anxietynetwork.com/pdfear.html#pdfear1I hope that some of my relief solutions help you some. Let me know how it goes and i wish you the best of luck and pray for you and everyone else with this disorder. Your friend,Jerry

HI, I am on lexapro and I can tell you that you won't notice a difference straight away, It usually takes a few weeks (for me it was about 4 weeks) before you notice any improvements. And be thankfull you don't have bad side affects, I threw up every day for the first week!! But don't lose hope I've been on it now for a few months and am almost NORMAL again, feels good!! I'm sure this med is fine for a teen as long as you follow the directions and listen to advice from your doctor. Another thing I would also like to add is DO NOT stop taking it suddenly, not only is there withdrawl side affects but the depression can come back even worse, when coming off lexapro, do it slowly and ask your doctor for advice on the best way to do this. Hope all goes well with you, keep at it, you will soon feel good again!!:) Kitty k (>"<)
