Joint and torso inflammation

My doctor thinks I had a virus/bacteria which triggered my joint pain recently.

I used to have severe muscle pain but that has gone and now I a left with joint and torso inflammation from my infection. If I don't take my anti inflammatory medicstion my joints are really stiff from my toes to my fingers and my back feels so inflamed it pushed onto my lungs and I cannot breath.

Once I take my meds everything deflates and I can function ok.

Does anyone know how long after an infection the inflammation takes to go down or does it mean I am stuck with this inflammation? How big does the infection have to be before the inflammation goes away?

Thank you for your response.
