I can't breathe!

Hello I need help to get rid of this nasty cough. I was in a house fire about two weeks ago. About a week and a half ago I started coughing up thick black phlegm. It's still really bad and I was hoping it would go away on it's own but it's not getting any better. I do smoke but never cough up black phlegm. Has anyone had the same thing happen? If so, how do I get rid of it?

  • I have had this happen, though it wasn't a house fire, it was a brush fire. I took a TON of vitamin C and ignored it. I don't have any issues years later, but this did last for a year or more (the same symptoms you have). Personally, I looked into ways to *purge* the lungs. Rumor has it it's VERY uncomfortable, but after 24 hours, the lungs are clear and no more mucousy phlegm. I didn't do it, though.

  • See a doctor. I had a fire in my kitchen and I hardly took in any smoke, but they took me to the ER to be sure that everything was ok. Kiera
