I have been having a lot of physical numbness for a while now and no doctors can get at the cause of it. I mainly have facial numbness. This is leading me to have a severe case of anxiety and possibly depression. I am very worried about whats going to happen to me as Im only 17 years old and not experienced with this stuff. I haven't gotten any tests done to see if there was lead or any other metal substances in my body. Does anybody have anything similar to this or know any possible solutions.

  • You're so young to have these symptoms! Have you been in a car accident or had a sports injury? It sounds like nerve damage--maybe in your neck. I had some similar symptoms and it was a herniated disc in my neck. A chiroprator or you PCP can do an x-ray or scan to find out. If you have had any kind of neck injury, I wouldn't wait too long--you should be able to get relief.Good luck!!!

Read a bit about Bell's Palsy. It's a neurological condition. I had at least 4 episodes, the first at your age....the second 3 all occured during my pregnancies. I've not had any episodes in over 12 years now. However, it comes and goes at various times in your life. Mine started out like you described. A sort of "numbness" or "dull feeling" in my left side of my face. It wasn't until one morning I woke up and my face was literaly "frozen" that Bell's Palsy was diagnosed. It's not life threatning (like a stroke) but it sure is scary. Take care.
